I was so happy when I read Azkaban for the first time and found that J. K. Rowling had written a sweet little part for a werewolf. As someone living with manic depression for nearly thity-six years, I have a fascination/envy of lycanthropes. (I envy them slightly because their cycles are at least predictable.) I've found in the character of Remus Lupin a very sweet, sweet man, a guide when my moods become dark, and an inspiration when I begin to feel weak. As for David Thewlis, well, he's not David Niven, but I suppose he's got a more appropriate rawness!

When I started reading the Harry Potter series I wasn't really that in to it because I thought there were no characters that really interested me but then when I started reading the 3rd book, that was the time I became so addicted to Remus Lupin. He is a very misunderstood person but he didn't let that be a wall to block his dreams. He has helped Harry in so many problems that I'm not even sure that Harry could be in his place right now if it weren't for Remus. I've always wanted Remus and Tonks to be together that I cried when I finished reading the 6th book. It really broke my heart knowing that they died in the 7th book and left their one and only son an orphan. I hope that Teddy Lupin will live a happy and cheerful life so that the death of both his parents wont go to waste. I love you Lupin and Tonks!!! =)

Since the third book, I have felt sorry for Remus and admired his strong morals and kind heart. But it was his influence, the caring way he taught Harry, and his bravery in the face of something that killed those he treasured most that truly left an imprint. He is an example of what a good human being should be in many ways: In overcoming prejudice, rising above the past, fighting for what you know is right, and helping those who are in need. Although Remus had difficulty seeing the good in himself, those who knew him would not hesitate to do it for him. These are the thoughts that shall come to mind forever more when thinking upon the Last Marauder.

My dear fellow Remus fans, It was such a shame that our beloved Remus has died in that horrible book. He was the greatest, though towards the end he got a bit annoying with his I'm to old and I'm a werewolf regime. Remus will always be alive to me, because a wonderful character like that can have died by Doholov's wand, nor his funny wife. It says no bashing, so I'll keep my anger for the writter at a minimum. Cheers all! As Sirius would say, 'those we love will never die, not as long as they're alive in our hearts.' Peace my friends. Heather Rhea Richardson

Proffessor Lupin is one of the best people in the whole series. Funny story, I have always wanted him to teach me and I ended up getting a teacher who is a lot like him, best part, she showed us POA in class and Boy In Striped Pajamas, both which Thewlis is in. I very much enjoy his presence in the book, he is so kind and I feel sorry that he is a werewolf. But, it's great that he still sees the good in everyone after been shamed by people and poor and all. He rocks.

Remus John Lupin was the most kind person in the Harry Potter books. He did not tease Snape, he only did not prevent it in fear of losing his friends. He thought James, Sirius, and Peter would leave him if they found out he was a werewolf. But they did not, which made their friendship stronger, if it could get stronger. I am very sad he died, along with his wife, Tonks. I lost my two favorite characters in Deathly Hallows. RIP REMUS JOHN LUPIN, WEREWOLF, HUSBAND, FATHER, AND SON.

Well he meant a lot to me as he is my first crush and I cried and cried and CRIED when he (and Tonks) died! I was heart broken. I still cry sometimes when I watch the 3rd and 5th Harry Potter movies and have a picture of him on one of my school books and on my wall in my room. R.I.P. Remus Lupin -- friend, loving father and husband, best DADA teacher Hogwarts has ever seen and lots of other things. Good bye Remus we all miss you! XX

Remus Lupin has always been a sort of idol to me. He had a very hard life straight to the end, and he still managed to stay strong and be a all around pleasant person. He didn't care what people thought of him. He had always been my favorite character, but it was only about a year ago that I realized why. I think I am very like Remus, even little things like him being a sweet tooth are similar. It breaks my heart to think-the date that everything went wrong (James and Lily died, as it seemed Peter had, and Sirius was shipped off to Azkaban) was October 31 1981. It was a full moon. Remus would wake up the next day to find all of this had happened. He had lost all his friends, yet he continued on with his already difficult life. He went on to teach at Hogwarts, and be a sort of father to Harry. When people think of Harry's second father they always think Sirius, but Remus always seemed more fatherly to me. He knew how much to tell Harry in the Order of the Phoenix, but he knew when to stop. Remus demonstrates great self control in stressful situations, for example in Sirius's death. He watched his last good friend die, and still managed to stop Harry from doing anything extreme for a while. Remus Lupin is and always will be my hero.

Lupin is my favourite character - followed by Tonks. I still cant accept that he died. It was so unfair :( I will not accept it! And the fact that Tonks died too was horrible. He is a brilliant character and so nice too. I'm in love with him. :)

Remus is my favourite person in the HP books *duh* Most people see Remus as a hard strong rock to lean on but actually, he is a person who suffers a lot. He is also very stubborn because when Tonks asked him to marry her. I suppose it is because he is a werewolf and he feels bad about that. Altogether, he is kind, caring, loyal, and just. Also, I think David Thewlis is very hot (hee, hee, you guessed it, I AM a fangirl) and portrays Lupin very well.

Remus Lupin is one of the good characters in the series. J. K. Rowling has written him so realistically that many people are able to relate to him. He is an intelligent, gallant, extremely brave and usually calm man. He is loving and sacrificing. People all over the world love him. He has a few flaws, but those are expected, for a flawless person is no good. Prejudice is something he has faced and fought with valiance. He loved Tonks, but didn't want to marry her for fear of endangering their child with lycanthropy. When he ended up with her eventually, he was an excellent husband and a brilliant father. I am so sad that he had to leave us when he was still thirty-eight. But he is watching over his son, for the ones that love us never really leave us. I think everyone will agree with me when I say, rest in peace. Goodbye.

Lupin is by far my favorite character within the Harry Potter books. I wasn't sure what to think of him when he first appeared on the Hogwart's Express and I did wonder as I read The Prisoner of Azkaban if he wouldn't turn out to be the big bad at the end of the story. I was pleasently surprised that he was actually a very gifted teacher. I loved the interaction between Lupin and Harry. He was so supportive and protective. I was very upset when Lupin was killed. It doesn't seem fair that when his life was finally going to be almost normal he lost everything. I'm glad that Harry remained a prominent figure in Teddy's life, but I wish Lupin could have lived to raise his son.

Remus Lupin has this kind of air about him that maks him loveable. He is one of the brightest characters [not beating Hermione at book smarts] but bright in a sence that he always know what to say. But because of the fact that he's a werewolf not everyone wants to hear what he has to say nor does he want to speek up all the time. Remus is very sweet and is always careful about his "furry little problem", as James would say. He is always making sure no one gets hurt by him. He is just a character I look up to and very much love, not in a Tonks kind of way but in a "I would never want anything to happen to him" kind of way. Lupin is an amazing character that should be loved by all.

Remus John Lupin. A character we will never forget. One of the many reasons to enjoy Harry Potter. When I first read The Prisoner Of Azkaban, Remus Lupin was like a best friend to me. Even now, when we all miss him, he lives on. Not only through Teddy, but through those who honor and respect him. I wish we could have gotten to know him better. If he was real, all of us wouldn't put him down like Dolores Umbridge (hate her). I hope hope that J.K. Rowling will write more about him. Three cheers for Remus Lupin, the werewolf that we all know and love! (I am a Lycanthropologist, yes I did make that up, contact me for any questions relating to werewolves, sorry if this is offending to the web master.)

Remus Lupin was a wonderful man. He was kind, caring and gentle, and he never harmed anyone around him, not even as a werewolf. He only had 3 close friends, all of which died in the end, and was forced to live his life in a very poor state. He had a 'furry little problem' that was not his fault at all, but still he paid the price for it for nearly all his short life. He was shunned by everyone but his friends, and forced to be unemployed because of prejudice and unfairness, and to top it all off, had to go through a painful and horrible transformation once a month. Just when it seemed his life was getting better, with the Wolfsbane potion and a wonderful wife and son, it was all horribly ended by death. What made it even worse is that he is not a character that many people like. WE LOVE YOU, REMUS LUPIN!! YOU WILL LIVE IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER!!

Remus Lupin is my favourite Marauder and I'd have to say I was quite devestated when I read in DH that he had died! Although quite glad that he and Tonks are survived by Teddy. I adore Remus Lupin and always will!

I love and will always miss Professor Remus J. Lupin, and am sure I am not the only one. I miss how he helped Harry. I miss how he was strong enough that he didn't get angry and try to make the things prejudiced people said about him true. I miss how he helped the order. I miss how he was Sirius Black's friend and gave him a really needed hug when he first saw him at the shrieking shack. *Chuckles through the tears* I miss how he resisted his feelings for 'Dora Tonks out of just feeling like he wasn't good enough for her. I miss how he finally gave in and they got married. I miss how he and Tonks would have been wonderful parents, and how they were so proud of their son. I know I'm not the only one who misses him for all these reasons and more, and I know I wasn't the first to and won't be the last, but I also know that he is loved, missed, remembered, looked up to, and shows the world that though prejudice does not have to ruin your entire life. He had a wife, a son, a group of children he probably thought of as his own, and a couple of best friends. He gave his life fighting for the Light, and will always be in our hearts. I hope he Rests In Peace. Kat Bane

Like many others, I fell in love with Remus after reading PoA, when he was first introduced as the new Professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts. Although he only taught at Hogwarts for a year, he bought compassion, tolerance, and gentle humour into the classroom, not only endearing him to his students but also to us, the readers. Yet, as we saw this kind, clever young teacher building his students confidence, we were also witnessing a man fighting a secret battle with lycanthropy. Although he hides it well, throughout the subsequent books we see that he fears the wolf in him and as a result, he finds it difficult to see his positive traits; even, at times, doubting his own worth completely and believing that his loved ones (his wife and unborn child) should be ashamed of him and are better off without him. In the end, however, he comes to realise that he isn't defined by being a werewolf and that, even though it may not be an easy road, his loved ones need him and that he is as important to them as they are to him. Demonstrating bravery, he stays and in doing so, experiences one of the greatest joys of his life; the birth of his child, a son. Sadly, shortly after this, he dies in battle - fighting for a better world for the son he loved so much. Although I first appreciated Remus for his cleverness and kindness as a teacher, his devotion to his family and the bravery that he demonstrates both with his inner battle with lycanthropy and in the war generally, only makes me admire him more. I'd like to say thank you to J.K. Rowling for creating this wonderful character and immortalising him in her series of magical books. I know that he will continue to inspire me, and many others, for a long time to come.

I never cried so hard from a character dying. Thinking abut it now still makes my heart heavy. Lupin was an amazing fellow. He was so sweet and caring. I also felt so bad for him. It seems wrong that just when he's a bit happy, he's killed off. RIP Remus J. Lupin, the best DADA teacher, sane Marauder, and lovable werewolf. You are seriously missed.

Why do I like Remus Lupin? I think that he is the best character in the series! I wish he could have been in every book. It made me really sad at the end when he died. I actually cried! I like him because he is brave, friendly, and intelligent.

Lupin was the main character that really captured my interest in the books. I love him so much because I sympathised with him. I wanted to read his name on every page, just to understand him that little bit better. I actually enjoyed the suffering that he encountered, simply because it made me like him even more. He is truly a remarkable character and by far, the most worthy, loyal and remarkable person. Love you Lupin!

Dear Moony, No matter what you thought of yourself at any given time, you were always a strong, wonderful, moral person, and the best character I could've asked for to fic about. Whether /Sirius, /Tonks, or just plain yourself, you could always be counted upon to be bookish, entertaining, and just all-around sweet. You never really forgave yourself for a lot of things, many of which weren't your fault to begin with... I hope that wherever you are now, you've come to terms with your life. I love you

Remus Lupin is the person I would be proud to become if I have this luck. There isn't person in this world I love more than I love him. He's obviously my favourite character and his death... I can't even explain how I felt. And how I still feel. His picture is on my wall, "Moonie" is engraved on my bed, and his initials are on my wrist. I remember him every day of my life. Every time I see the moon, or a wolf, or everything that can hardly be connected with him I start thinking about him, consequently sobbing and so on... I adore him! He is my hero, he is the person who told me to be who I am now, and who I grow to be. I can't imagine the day I wouldn't think about him or just smile at him. Wherever he is I smile at him. Thus I feel closer to him, even if this is impossible. I would give everything just to see that he is somewhere happy, that he sees from above his son an helps him in difficult moments, just like James did for Harry. I hope that he is with Tonks, Sirius, Lily, James, Fred, Mad-eye... I just hope. And I'm so happy that there are so many people which love him… I love him too. I adore him. R.J.L… Thank you for everything you are!!!

Dear Remus, since I met you for the first time you’ve been a great friend. I think many parts of your personality are very similar to mine. Meeting a character with a disability meant also very much to me - although sitting in a wheelchair is surely different to being a werewolf ;) You will always be a part of me. Love, Liane.

Remus Lupin, a character in the Harry Potter series, has affected me because in some way I can relate to him. Being the good one from a group of friends, I often realize I cut them a lot of slack. He was also really awesome, on the fact that he only wanted what was best for Nymphadora and his son Ted.
